Royal Enfield's history traces back to 1891 when Bob Walker Smith and Albert Eadie acquired George Townsend & Co., a respected needle manufacturer that had recently ventured into bicycle production. They renamed the company Enfield Manufacturing Company Ltd. in November 1891 and introduced the first Bob Walker Smith-designed bicycle, the Enfield. The following year, the bicycles were rebranded as Royal Enfields, and the iconic 'Made Like A Gun' trademark was established.
